Catechism of the Catholic Church:

“The bodies of the deceased must be treated with respect and charity in the faith and hope of the resurrection. Burying the dead is a corporal work of mercy (cf Tb 1, 16-18), which honors the children of God, temples of the Holy Spirit” (CCL 2300).

Code of Canon Law:

“The Church strongly advises that the pious custom of burying the corpse of the deceased be preserved; however, it does not prohibit cremation, unless it has been chosen for reasons contrary to Christian doctrine. (CDC 1983)
